God natt 😮

December 28 - The Golden Temple

The day started a bit earlier today as we've learned that if you can manage to be at tourist attractions as early as possible, you'll have "less" crowd to contend with. BUT it's not easy to get up in the morning for the four of us, especially challenging for the kids - being a tourist is tough, as mentioned 😂.

We took an Uber to The Golden Temple. Uber 🚘 works perfectly here in India 🇼🇳, and it's advantageous because you know you won't be cheated on the price, which always feels reassuring.

We had enticed the kids with the enchanting Golden Temple, mentioning that it's real gold shining, so there were some expectations, but they shattered with the fog 😂 We didn't see much gold; instead, we saw mostly bare feet đŸŠ¶ đŸŠ¶ as you're not allowed to enter the temple with shoes 👞. Everyone had to wash their hands and feet before entering. Headgear was also mandatory, so Milo and Hardy got some orange ones, and Kira and I had our own scarves. Even though we didn't see much, there was a mysterious atmosphere with the fog and the constant singing in the background. Hardy also had a new experience; they asked him for a photo, and me a few times. So, Kira almost got some peace.

Entering the sacred temple, the line was longer than the peak season at Liseberg's most popular attraction, so we skipped that. But one thing we didn't skip was the experience of sitting on the floor and eating with hundreds of Indians. It was an incredible experience. Maybe it's wrong to say, but I felt like I was in a movie where the main characters are sitting in a prison 😂 Everyone sat in rows, and they came and served the food on metal trays. Water came in something I initially thought was a floor cleaning machine, but it was to serve the water 💩 The food was very tasty, but we stayed away from the water, and Kira stayed completely away from the food. She said she'll take care of us if we get food poisoning 😂 đŸ€ą.

They serve thousands of portions every day, so they had created a very efficient food delivery system that impressed. However, the kids were not very impressed with today's adventure; they mostly wanted to go back to the hotel and relax. After a Domino's pizza 🍕 for Kira, we took an Uber back to the hotel, and the rest of the afternoon consisted of movies for the kids and a fantastic massage for us adults. There was also time for homework for the kids. They brought a bag full of 20 kg of homework that they tackle 📕 now and then.

The evening ended with dinner at the hotel and a movie 🍿 on Netflix. Tomorrow we head back to Delhi for a night before going up to the mountains to celebrate đŸ„ł New Year đŸ„‚.

Good night 😮
